The origin of the avocation.

The genesis of this divertissement was more like dormant gene I received from my mother who had this leisure interest in collecting coins. Being a curious child I always used to ask her to let me keep all those but she never agreed saying I was not ready for it and I would only get when I am worthy.

Yeah ! just like Odin admonished Thor "-if he be worthy, shall possess the power ."

As time went by, I grew up with this dormant gene in me. There were a few times when I fortunately got few fancy coins ( commemorative coins), and I even used to promise myself that I would avoid spending it , but unfortunately would end up spending it for some trivial reasons. It happens with all of us, right ?

With few efforts I convinced my mother to let me take one coin from her collection as a kick start. That was the " ONE QUARTER ANNA " of 1936. And it remained in my valet for more than a couple of years with no further breakthrough.

It was just recently, when I was preparing for the Engineering Service Exams, I came know about different coinages , then while studying Indian economy and the RBI policies, I got to know about the Minting and Printing stations in India. So I was in this "Mind-set".

I hope You'al know about the  MIND-SET theory!

OK, let me bring about this in-short. Say you always had a dream of buying a CAR .Recently you have had fortune to buy one. And you decide to buy a SWIFT say. All of a sudden you start noticing SWIFT cars everywhere. It is not that SWIFT wasn't there till now, but only recently you very keenly started noticing it. This is MIND-SET.

So, even I started luckily getting the fancy coins again and this time I actually didn't spend them. The number of occasions grew and unknowingly I grew fond of it. I started reading various blogs , books, websites etc. I was totally into taking it seriously.

With few endeavours, I had managed to get a handful of coins within a short span. This collection and my efforts were clearly evident, And I finally got what I was worthy. Today I have more than hundreds of new , old and commemorative coins, of which a huge chunk is given to me by my mother .
I have also been fortunate enough that many people have contributed to my collection with what they thought was lying useless in some niches of their valets and would look great with my collection. And I welcome people willing to contribute to my collection. This was just the behind-the-scenes of this Blog. I would be starting with the basics of numismatics and exhibiting my collection in the forthcoming articles.

Thank you for reading ! Have a Good day.
